Michelle Gagliano

Earth pigments, organic oils & shell gold

Michelle Gagliano’s paintings are an evocative response to landscape, expressing the transient qualities of nature and the ethereal expanses of sea, land or sky.

Within the surface of each painting, Gagliano applies her own unique medium by grinding raw earth pigments, blending extracted nut oils, and infusing essential lavender solvents. The powerful effect of these combined materials is further intensified through Gagliano’s refined use of gold, which she exploits for its enduring quality and ability to catch light, making her work both veiled and glowing.
