Sara Dodd

Porcelain & natural dye

Sara Dodd draws inspiration from the natural world, working with porcelain to explore delicate and fragile organic forms of repetition and pattern. Dodd describes her state of mind whilst working as ‘meditative and almost semiconscious’, allowing her hands to work intuitively with the clay.

Drawn to porcelain for its translucent quality and ability to play with light like no other material, Dodd delicately crafts clay into wafer-thin forms, softly layering each piece to give an illusion of weightlessness. The works capture a sense of the momentary and ephemeral, like the passing of a cloud or the  flow of the tide.
