Yorgos Papadopoulos
Glass, pigments & gold leaf
At the core of Papadopoulos’ practice is a pioneering approach to materials and desire to push the boundaries of a medium. The artist fuses fractured glass with painting through powerfully energetic yet carefully considered and meditative processes.
Often embracing elements of chance and the magic of alchemy, the artist works with sandblasting, glass pigments, gold leaf and enamels directly on the surface of the glass. The result artworks consciously exploit the inherent qualities of glass, as light is both absorbed through its surface and radiated from within.
