Clémentine Brandibas
Textiles & embroidery
Brandibas re-invents needlepoint embroidery as an expressive and poetic medium, developing a range of delicate techniques: from her painterly use of dying fabrics, through to the creative fine needlework of the embroidery itself.
The artist draws inspiration from the natural world, often re-imagining vast and extreme landscapes, such as glacial pools, tidal estuaries, coral reefs and submerged atolls. Deep within the textured surface of each work is the sense of dreamlike parallel worlds, where distant universes and hidden microcosms coexist.
