Marie Minhac
Enamel Mosaic
Reviving the ancient craft of mosaic frescoes, Minhac’s practice brings a contemporary vison to a centuries-old medium. Working exclusively with the finest Briare enamels, the artists is considered a leading master craftsperson of this poetic craft.
Unique to the artist’s works is her sensitivity to the nuances of colour and texture, where compositions are developed as fields of subtly layered colour. Each mosaic piece is carefully hand-cut to a unique organic shape and applied to the artwork’s surface like the gesture of a brushstroke, and as the piece evolves the imagery emerges like an impressionist painting.
