Michelle Keeling

Fused glass & precious metals

Embracing the inherent transformative qualities of glass, Michelle Keeling combines precious metals and oxides with glass to create rich textures, movement and chromatic layers.

Inspired by the Earth’s fragile frozen environments, Keeling crafts irregular fragments and fuses them into timeless and unified landscapes. The artist’s firing process in the kiln uses heat to unlock the fluidity held in glass, a process that draws symbolic parallels with the environmental context of her subject’s changing climate.
