Aircraft interiors have hugely evolved from conventional spaces they once were. Today, ambitious travellers seek a blend of luxury, comfort, and personal expression when flying the skies. One exceptional example of this trend is the Bombardier Global 5000 business jet refit that turned a ten-year-old standard aircraft cabin into a unique interior statement—a true work of art in the air.
The Brief: A Personal Commission for Art in Aircraft
The client's request was clear: a complete refurbishment of their Bombardier Global 5000 to create a modern and vibrant space reflecting their character. Artelier, in collaboration with Winch Design, embarked on a journey to deliver a bespoke interior that surpassed all expectations.
Transforming Aircraft Interiors: A Fusion of Art and Design
Although there are available artistic products in the market, clients often have grander aspirations and specific preferences for their unique aesthetic vision. Whether it involves murals or sculptures, our team possesses expert solutions by offering professional services that transform these ambitions into tangible realities. Moreover, we aim to alleviate any concerns or uncertainties to the associated risks and concerns on behalf of our clients.
The Art Feature Wall: A Striking Centrepiece
At the heart of the design lies the large art feature wall on the aft bulkhead. This vibrant artwork, an original commission from a London-based artist, was painted directly onto the aircraft bulkhead. Its bold colours and abstract detail set the tone for the entire cabin, providing an arresting focal point in the Owner's Lounge. The piece is inspired by the late Japanese artist Kazuo Shiraga.
Harmonious Interior Design: Balancing Colours and Geometry
Taking cues from the art piece, the interior expertly blends bold colours and subtle geometry. The custom tufted carpet and embossed stitched leather bulkheads contribute to the cabin's characterful and personalised ambiance. Additionally, the seats were re-styled using high-quality leathers, offering a fresh and lighter feel to the cabin.
Superior Performance: A Jet for the Discerning Global Traveler
The Bombardier Global 5000 is not only an aesthetic marvel but also a performance powerhouse. With a design range of 4,800nm at Mach 0.85 and a maximum cruise speed of M0.88, this jet offers mission capabilities comparable to its ultra-long range competitors but with superior fuel efficiency and more airport options.
The Global 5000's cabin boasts business aviation's finest digital Cabin Electronic Systems, high-speed connectivity, and a full set of equipment to match an on-ground office. With the widest cross-section in its class, it provides ample headroom, legroom, and a true aft stateroom for privacy and comfort.
The refurbished cabin accommodates up to 13 travellers, providing a multifunctional space ideal for both relaxation and productivity. From the spacious sofa in the Owner's Lounge to the adaptable seating for formal dining, the Global 5000 ensures comfort and convenience.
What is the future of Art in Aircraft?
The Bombardier Global 5000's transformation into an art-filled aircraft interior is a testament to the growing trend of personalised and expressive aviation spaces. Art and design merge seamlessly in this project, elevating the flying experience to new heights. The aircraft not only flies passengers faster and farther but also envelops them in a luxurious and inspiring environment. Whether it's for business or leisure, an exemplary vision of exquisite art in aircraft takes flight with the Bombardier Global 5000.
