Kal Mansur

Plexiglass & pigments

Mansur is known for his vivid acrylic sculptures, which are unique in their use of diffusion and concealment as compositional elements. Drawing inspiration from sources as diverse as Donald Judd, aeronautic engineering and biology, Mansur's pieces express a fusion of disparate influences into a cohesive projection.

The works are ambiguous encasements of various internal elements; they explore the properties of translucency, and how light can reveal and conceal the elements within. The result lends a kinetic quality to his art, creating a hybrid between geometric abstraction and the economy of form found in minimalism.
